Mashed

You'll have to refer to him as 'child murderer' Trump now, as you have Obama the past few months.

I don't have quotes but am going to guess that proper hardcore lefties ... eg Mr J Corbyn of Islington etc .... would have been against bombing by Obama also.
And are against anything that Trump does from the moment he opens his eyes in the morning.
Which they are also against.

Rightwingers who loved the America First stuff and that Trump wasn't going to get involved in foreign wars .... will have their own justification as to why this is perfectly on message with his previous BLURTATIONS.

Re: The beginning of the Donald?
Strange. Seems some lefties on social media and in the press are absolutely OUTRAGED by this bombing yet were absolutely fine when Obomba was doing it?

Anyway, seems like since the air strike, the head choppers are making gains in that area again. Take this as a lesson that Assad's forces are basically the only bulwark stopping Syria from becoming another hell-on-Earth like Iraq.

Meanwhile in Sweden... Wonder how long it'll take for the liberal media to declare that this person happened to have the exact same mental illness as the people in Berlin, Nice and London.

"In the immortal words of Mandy Rice-Davies, somewhat paraphrased, well they would say that wouldn't they?"

True, but the Syrian released drone footage of the base and the damage looked relatively minimal. This is probably just a shot across the bow.

Re: The beginning of the Donald?
The Syrian government does not have total control of the military forces who wear its colours.

A large percentage of the military are in fact controlled by elements of the Republican Guard in Iran.

This was most likely a case of Iran testing US/UN resolve and reaction/response times by proxy.

The thing that I ask myself is why would Assad be that stupid? Surely he needs all the diplomacy he can get and would not put his already fragile standing into the shitter.

And I hate Assad I just find the gassing thing very dubious I am not saying he did not but if he did he has to be very stupid as he has Russia on his side.

So Trump bombed Syria 'for the gassed kids'. Are these the same 'kids' he won't give refuge to?

Re: The beginning of the Donald?
The Government was accused of “breathtaking laxity” in its arms controls last night after it emerged that officials authorised the export to Syria of two chemicals capable of being used to make a nerve agent such as sarin a year ago.

The Business Secretary, Vince Cable, will today be asked by MPs to explain why a British company was granted export licences for the dual-use substances for six months in 2012 while Syria’s civil war was raging and concern was rife that the regime could use chemical weapons on its own people. The disclosure of the licences for potassium fluoride and sodium fluoride, which can both be used as precursor chemicals in the manufacture of nerve gas, came as the US Secretary of State John Kerry said the United States had evidence that sarin gas was used in last month’s atrocity in Damascus.

Mr Kerry announced that traces of the nerve agent, found in hair and blood samples taken from victims of the attack in the Syrian capital which claimed more than 1,400 lives, were part of a case being built by the Obama administration for military intervention as it launched a full-scale political offensive on Sunday to persuade a sceptical Congress to approve a military strike against Syria.

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills insisted that although the licences were granted to an unnamed UK chemical company in January 2012, the substances were not sent to Syria before the permits were eventually revoked last July in response to tightened European Union sanctions.

It looks like the airforce base was barely hit. The Russians and Syrians are saying that most of the tomahawks landed in empty fields.

Re: The beginning of the Donald?
The missiles were launched as a result of a direct order from President Trump, while he was at his Mar-a-Lago golf resort in Florida, where he will host Chinese President Xi Jinping this weekend. While nine people (including four children, according to Syrian state media) were killed as a result of the attack, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad likely got advance warning from his close ally, Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom the Trump administration reportedly informed of the pending strike prior to the attack, due to the possibility of Russian soldiers in the vicinity of the target.

However empty the gesture of attacking Syria may have been, if the goal was boosting domestic consumption, then the attack was a resounding success. Since Trump launched the missiles, oil prices are up, along with the share prices of the largest military contractors — including Tomahawk cruise missile manufacturer Raytheon. Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon are all rallying, and may close at highs not seen in five years if current trends continue.

It looks like the airforce base was barely hit. The Russians and Syrians are saying that most of the tomahawks landed in empty fields. Considering how accurate tomahawks are, that was probably intentional.
